Bonsai Boy’s Humidity/Drip Tray Bonsai Pebbles

These little river pebbles are very attractive and many appear quartz-like as they have a slight translucense and glisten to them. I have added 2 pictures to the product listing to show them better than they appear just in the little bag here on Amazon.
I gave this product 4 stars holding back 1 star due to the price. While I didn’t mind (I have now bought 6 bags) I felt personally it was a tad too pricey and probably as any product even remotely associated with Bonsai gets an automatic price boost. Still I love them. How many bags will you need? I can tell you my oval-shaped drip humidity tray is 13″ long and 10″ wide and about 1 ” deep. I projected 3 bags to be sufficient but since have ordered 3 more. The initial 3 bags do NOT cover the bottom of the tray fully leaving some spaces. I expect 2 more will do the trick and it is likely I’ll use all 3 additional bags to get really good consistent coverage. The bags while not very large I must say are really stuffed full of pebbles. Looking at them under my T5 grow light the pebbles have a very nice light tan hue..and appear smooth with somewhat rounded surfaces indictative of previous water flow. (i.e. “river pebbles”) This is not common gravel by any stretch. None of the river pebbles have sharp or jagged features. The size of these pebbles varies from about pea-sized to about peanut-sized. The sizing while slightly varied is consistent to this range. There was no dust or grit in the bag with the pebbles and as such no dust or grit in my bonsai humidity tray. These are very clean little pebbles. Another thought on the appearance is they looked ‘washed’ or slightly ‘bleached’ – very suitable for bonsai as they are visually neutral and do not distract from the bonsai presentation. They are I would say..”very gentle and peaceful pebbles” Peace, Love and always…..Bonsai. Rating: 4 / 5
